Chanda J. Davis, M.S., CCC-SLP
Clinical Director, Speech Language Pathologist
The director of Milestones Speech and Language Services, P.L.L.C., Chanda Davis is a licensed speech language pathologist in the states of Idaho and Washington. She earned her Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders from Eastern Washington University in 1998 and her ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in 1999. She received the “Outstanding Graduate Award” from Eastern Washington University upon the completion of her master’s degree. Chanda has worked intensively with children who have a wide range of communication disorders in progressive private practice settings in Seattle, WA. She is passionate about providing high quality pediatric intervention services with an emphasis on building strong, respectful relationships. She opened Milestones Speech and Language Services, PLLC in 2004 in order to provide high quality services in a setting which could provide the flexibility to meet the specific and unique characteristics and needs of each family. Chanda specializes in working with children who have moderate to sever social-communication disorders which are commonly present in children with autism spectrum disorders, sensory integration and regulatory disorders, verbal dyspraxia, dysarthria, and other related disorders. She has experience developing intensive in-home treatment programs utilizing a variety of treatment techniques such as DIR©/Floor Time™, SCERTS, PECS, social stories, pivotal response training, discrete trial teaching, positive behavioral modification techniques, and other speech and language strategies. Chanda is Level II certified in Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonemic Targets (PROMPT) and has completed Level I of the Developmental Individual-Difference Relationship (DIR©) model certificate program. She also has experience lecturing on autism and supervising graduate student clinicians at Ohio University, Eastern Washington University, and Idaho State University. She served as treasurer on the Autism Society of Washington Board of Directors for 3 years and is currently actively involved with The ISSAC Foundation.
Ashley Potter, M.S., CCC-SLP
Speech Language Pathologist
Ashley Potter is a licensed speech language pathologist in the state of Washington. She has served on the Spokane chapter of the Autism Society of Washington since 2006. She received her Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders from Eastern Washington University in 2002 and her ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in 2004. Prior to pursuing her master degree, Ashley worked as a speech therapy assistant at Talk, Learn, and Communicate in Seattle, WA providing behavioral and social communication intervention to children with autism spectrum disorders and related disorders for three years. Ashley has experience working with a wide range of communication disorders as well as with children with oral aversion and feeding difficulties. She is enthusiastic about offering pediatric therapeutic services that rely heavily on collaboration with families and other professionals involved with the child. She has worked in an outpatient rehabilitation facility, a birth to 3 center, and an outpatient feeding and growth clinic. She specializes in autism spectrum disorders and the birth to 3 population. Ashley is PROMPT I certified. She has experience implementing home treatment programs and training families/caregivers as well as their support staff. Her direct therapeutic intervention draws from a variety of techniques including but not limited to SCERTS, PECS, DIR©/Floor Time™, visually cued instruction, Social Stories, Sensory Integration, Aided Language Simulation, Discrete Trial Teaching, and positive behavioral modification techniques. Ashley has also had experience leading preschool and adolescent groups with an emphasis on building social communication skills and fostering peer relationships. She has experience presenting information on positive behavioral modification techniques and supervising graduate student clinicians at the joint program of Eastern Washington and Washington State University.
Kathryn Matsubuchi, OTR/L
Occupational Therapist
Kathryn Matsubuchi is a nationally registered and Washington State licensed occupational therapist. Kathryn’s professional OT experiences includes working in the geriatric setting for 1 ½ years and 8 plus years of pediatric based OT services. Kathryn received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from University of Washington in 1996. Previous work settings include home-based service delivery through the WA State Elks Therapy Program for Children for 5 ½ years, Pediatric Therapy Specialists for 3 months, Holy Family Hospital Children’s Rehabilitation Services for 2 ½ years, and at Milestones since May 2007. Kathryn’s clinical specialty areas include specialty certification in pediatric NDT, Neuro-Developmental Treatment training including assessment of postural alignment and neuro-muscular deficits and corresponding treatments that address functional deficit areas; oral motor training to assist with feeding, swallowing, nose blowing, and oral hygiene difficulties resulting from muscular and sensory delays and deficits; incorporation of sensory integration treatment techniques to assist in improving self-regulation, coping abilities and to improve overall attention spans to enhance participation in ADL and fine motor skills. In her free time Kathryn enjoys walking her dogs, reading, cooking gourmet meals, spending time with her husband and daughter, and creating remodel plans.

Laura Smith, MOTR/L
Occupational Therapist
Laura Smith is a licensed occupational therapist in the state of Washington. She graduated from
Eastern Washington University with a Master of Occupational Therapy degree and has been
employed with Milestones since January 2010. She is basic level certified in DIR / Floortime
interventions, has participated in the Handwriting Without Tears workshop, and has attended
on-line workshops addressing meltdowns and regulatory sensory processing disorders. In
September of 2010, Laura will be participating in the Therapeutic Listening Conference as well.
